Just Another Desi Momma

About Me

Hi! I'm Uresha, better known as Rachel to many and I'm so happy you're here to share this journey with me. I'm a Gujarati gal and have been gifted with one life and I want to live it to the fullest. As I approach my 50th birthday this year, I reflect on many things. I'm a boy mom to 3 incredible young men and married to my best friend of 27 amazing years. I have a great career with an organization that promotes family first. Not to mention, I can work in my pajamas every day if I choose to. I have a support system of 4 wonderful parents who are the pillars of my life. And I have a fierce girl gang that keeps me sane.  Trust me, it may sound like I'm bragging, but I'm not. I share this with the most authentic and humble heart. Along the way, through building this beautiful life, I have worked very hard to sustain these special relationships and I often ask myself if I'm doing enough. I am not a strong, religious person, but I spiritually believe there is a faceless, higher power that protects us. Practicing gratitude daily helps me appreciate my successes and learn from my failures. Even on the best days, the failures keep me honest with myself, because history can easily repeat itself,

My "Why"

As a Gujarati woman, we live in a  blended community where the values of the Hindu society and the American dream sometimes collide. I wanted to create this platform as a safe space where I can share what helps me balance life, enjoy simple pleasures, and overcome the struggles that many of us face. We hold the key to unlock unchartered waters by understanding the “why” behind a situation. Educating ourselves and opening our minds is the key to addressing these elements together. Some days, our responsibilities are all so difficult to navigate amongst the normal chaos of life. They challenge us with many experiences and along the way, change us to evolve as women. I find myself doing a lot of self-help to get through my daily stresses. Reading, writing, and crafting have always been my passions and an outlet to relieve anxiety. Starting a blog has been a long-term goal for me because my feelings come through my words. I don't think I could work for Hallmark to write greeting cards, but if Wisdom In Waves resonates with even a handful of people, I would call it a success. We all have so much to contribute to enrich each other's lives.

My Mission

The intention of starting this blog is to build a community and share experiences organically with those who are like me. We don’t have to identify as the same nationality, or gender or even be from the same demographic or economic social background. In a world of social media, where so much information is shared, people forget how much free knowledge is out there. We have the luxury of learning a new skill by TikTok or YouTube. Why not use these platforms to support and learn from each other? The topics I will talk about are common conversations I hear about or have experienced myself. My perspective may be different from yours, but I'd love to hear them. Our views can be different and that is such a beautiful thing. To see a perspective through a different lens teaches us to open our minds and relate to others. Join me in sharing your wisdom, as I share mine with you.
